The story of IG
In August 2011, Wang Sicong officially announced his entry into the e-sports field through Weibo, integrating the domestic e-sports industry. He subsequently acquired the soon-to-be-defunct CCM team to form the iG e-sports club. At the 2018 LPL(League of Legends Pro League of China) Summer Competition, IG successfully reached the final of the summer falloff and was defeated by team RNG in the final. Later that year, IG participated in the World Championships as LPL's No. 2 seed.
The begining
On Sep 28, 2018, the League of Legends World Competition(S8) theme song was published. The song was named “RISE” and was translated as “登峰造极境” in the LPL region. Surprisingly, the word “极” is also the theme of IG’s team uniforms and play style, as they are famous for their aggressiveness in gaming. “极” (ji) came from the Chinese philosophy taiji, which is strongly related to the concept of Ying&Yang.
RISE
On Oct 20, 2018, Ig defeated KT roaster, one of the top teams in the League of Legends 2018 world series. Meanwhile, one of the other torrent teams was unexpectedly lost to a European team named G2-Esport. IG, entering the semi-final; became the last hope of China and even Asia. Meanwhile, IG’s aggressive playstyle led them to become one of the most popular teams in World 2018.
The one & only
Incheon Winner
On November 3, the 2018 World Finals of League of Legends ended in Incheon, South Korea, with iG 3-0 FNC from the LPL Division winning the first championship trophy for the LPL Division. That night, all social media was flooded by "IG." As the most popular e-sports game at present, League of Legends has always been the most popular and influential e-sports event among young people. The IG's victory proves this even more.

(The Chinese word on the back of IG’s jersey means ultimate. It is a phrase first used in Taoism, which is used as the meaning of Taiji. )
